Reliance Jio maintained its lead in subscriber numbers in Delhi. The company retains its position in the national capital with over 1.99 crore subscribers and 36.83% customer market share in May 2021, as per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The company added 69,832 subscribers in Delhi during the month.
As for national numbers, Jio added 2.8 million active users in May, taking its active user share to 34.3% and user base to 338 million. While Airtel and Vodafone-Idea lost as many as 5.6 million and 7 million such users respectively.
Overall active users base for the telecom sector fell by 11 million to 986 million in May, reflecting some SIM consolidation and impact of the Covid second wave, analysts said.
Trai’s active or ‘visitor location register’ (VLR) data is said to be a key metric that reflects the actual number of customers actively using a mobile network. The VLR ratio numbers for May showed up to 98% for Airtel, 88.8% for Vi and 78.4% for Reliance Jio.
