How are you feeling after receiving an award at the ET Inspiring Women Awards 2021?
I feel happy attending an Award ceremony in the new normal. It’s been over 2 years since I received my last award, so it feels good. Obviously, it’s a great honour to be in a position where people get inspired by what you do. My work motivates me too. I hope I keep inspiring the people through the work that I do onscreen and off screen.
How did you cope with the COVID-19 infection and recovery?
I think nobody’s COVID-19 experience is pleasant nor was mine. During the second wave, my team of volunteers and I fought very hard to help as many people as possible. That’s when I realised how serious this disease can actually get, because I know so many people who have lost family members, who have lost their loved ones and I really hope that the third wave can be managed better. I really hope that people learnt a huge lesson from what happened in the second wave. Wearing masks, putting on double masks, maintaining social distance, getting vaccinated, I think that’s the most important thing. Where my films are concerned, we are back to working and we are trying to follow as many covid protocols as possible. It’s good to be back to work. I always keep telling people that we need to kind of put back money into our economy for things to stabilize. So I’m happy that from my end, that process has started.
How does it feel to become an inspiration for many across the world?
I think there are women in all fields today that inspire, be it sport, art, science or any other field. Thanks to the reach of social media and the internet, there are stories that we can now read and there are people that we can now reach out to and there’s so much we can learn from them. Where my position as an inspiring woman is concerned, I am fortunate that I work in films at a time when the language of cinema has changed. I feel lucky about the kind of roles that I have got, thus far. I’m glad that I managed to inspire women, men and people in general. I hope to continue doing the same with the work that I do.
Can you reveal something about your upcoming projects?
Currently, I’m shooting for ‘Rakshabandhan’. There is a lot happening but we can’t really speak about all the things. It’s good to be back on set, it is good to meet people that you’ve worked with. I literally missed being in a character, because for the last five years of my life, that’s all I’ve done and I really miss being a whole new person because that is what my work allows me to do. I really missed being somebody new, a person who is so different from me and the madness of acting, that adrenaline rush. I feel happy to be back.
